HOLDING IT TOGETHER
Holding It Together explores perfectionism, control, and the difficulty of accepting imperfection. Each work is made in a single session, with its duration determined by the limits of my own mental and physical stamina.
Strips of heavy black Gorilla tape are torn and layered onto flat black surfaces, gradually building into three-dimensional forms. Working within the constraint of time requires quick decisions about placement, length, frayed edges, and loose fibers, leaving little opportunity to correct or refine what has already occurred. The process becomes an exercise in relinquishing control—allowing irregularities to remain and accepting the work at the moment I reach my own limit.
